It’s the 21st century, and women are still being blamed for what men do to them. In spite of the Hollywood scandals and the “me too” campaign that followed, sexual harassment as well as victim-blaming and slut-shaming continues to thrive.

It is in this context that slam poet Pooja Sachdeva makes a point: “Haan main characterless hoon (Yes, I am characterless)”.

Sachdeva is speaking for women everywhere with her rebellious poem as she inverts the accusations. “They say modesty is a woman’s ornament...Yet, you keep taking it off.”

The poem also takes on an ironically confessional tone as Sachdeva narrates her own experience with sexual harassment, reminding her viewers to take note that she was wearing jeans and a sweater that evening.
