From India to Europe, while political battles break out over whether to accept refugees or not, the treacherous journey that those who are fleeing their homeland in search of a sanctuary is often overlooked.

Swiss animator Fabio Friedli has used his skills to make a disturbing film (above) on the perils of these journeys with a darkly comic rendition, ironically titled Bon Voyage. Friedli deliberately chose stick-figures to represent the universality of the refugee experience.

The use of conventional cartoon tropes like slapstick, exaggeration only highlights the inhuman nature of the journey, which takes no prisoners and leaves few survivors.
