An animated short film titled The Working Man makes a stark comment on modern-day employment and the alienation of the worker. The brainchild of animator Tim Searfoss, it features a solitary worker trying to operate an incomprehensible assembly-line and facing the wrath of his superiors when he fails.

It’s a terrifying look at the future – or is it already here? – of industrial work. The film is moody and evocative, asking important questions.

Searfoss has previously worked on several other projects, including a moving film (below) depicting a father’s epiphany as he learns to focus on the things that matter in his life. He explained his latest film with a short description: “Got so fed up with work and dealing with my boss, I spent a year and half making this hand drawn animation to show what it’s like to be The Working Man.”
