As the world observed October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, American singer-songwriter Beyoncé brought something very unique to the table in her trademark style. To honour the day, she released a new music video (above) for her song Freedom, from her 2016 pathbreaking visual album Lemonade.

The powerful lyrics make it the perfect soundtrack for the video, which features young girls singing along to the words and dancing with confidence and pride. Even though they are from different parts of the globe, the video features them united in their fight against inequality and with one simple demand: freedom. They want freedom from oppression of all sorts – violence, child marriage, human trafficking, female genital mutilation, illiteracy and the HIV epidemic.

Chime for Change and The Global Goals partnered with the legendary singer to spread awareness about their #FreedomForGirls campaign by producing this striking music video. You can visit The Global Goals’ page to support one of the many organisations aiding young girls around the world.
