TV journalist Ravish Kumar has an important question. Why does Prime Minister Narendra Modi follow some of the people who are celebrating journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder on social media?

‘The people of the country have given the Prime Minister so much love. Whom should he be following? Out of the 1,700 people he follows, is the man who used the word “kutia” the one he had to follow? He probably doesn’t even follow all his party’s legislators.”

Tongue in cheek or not, Kumar suggested that Modi follow him instead on twitter. ‘I will share nice poems with him, he will come to know of the country’s problems, it will help him solve them.’

The thrust of Kumar’s argument: being followed by the Prime Minister on twitter emboldens people to do more of what they are doing, which, in this case, is spewing hatred.
