Al Jarreau, whom Time Magazine once labelled “greatest jazz singer alive,” died on Sunday. He was 77. Jarreau had a storied career in music and was one of the few musicians to have won Grammy awards in three separate categories – jazz, pop and R&B. He won seven Grammys.

In 2005, Jarreau performed at the Gateway of India in Mumbai alongside George Duke, Ravi Coltrane, and members of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, as part of the closing ceremony of The Mumbai Festival.
