American rock band OK Go are well-known for having a high appetite for creativity and experimentation in their videos. The group’s newest song, The One Moment, is no exception.

They video involves a shot lasting all of 4.2 seconds. And then, it’s played back r..e..a..l..l..y s..l..o..w..l..y. High-speed cameras and robotic arms made the feat possible.

“I’ve always had a fascination with slow-mo footage – it almost feels like cheating because everything in slow-mo is beautiful,” OK Go frontman Damian Kulash said in an interview.

“Most of our videos have sought to deliver wonder and surprise, and this one is no exception,” the band explained in their accompanying notes. “But usually our tone has been more buoyant, more exuberant. For this song – our most heartfelt and sincere – we wanted the sense of wonder to be more intimate and contemplative.”

And it is, leaving everyone wondering how everything falls into place so smoothly. Band members being brought to life via flipbook, exploding guitars and more events in an extremely short time-frame.
