For those of you who thought otherwise, there’s a video doing the rounds of the internet that proves that Microsoft Edge is the best browser in the world.

Who made the video? Why, Microsoft themselves.

In the run-up to the upcoming anniversary update of Windows 10, the tech giant announced that they had conducted an experiment – the results of which affirmed their numero uno position. This video of the Microsoft Edge Experiment shows four laptops running four browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Microsoft Edge. The laptops were left on till they ran out of battery.

The laptop running Chrome (which leads desktop browser usage market) was the first to go, followed by the one with Firefox (that overtook Edge in desktop browser usage share in April for the first time), then Opera. Microsoft, of course, came out on top in this contest.

In response to the video, Opera came out with a report of their own previously conducted test, which had discovered that their browser was more battery-efficient than Microsoft Edge.

Social media users, of course, couldn't resist the opportunity presented by the war of the browsers.

This sort of comparative advertising has been fairly common India. Every thing from washing powder brands to soft drinks try to prove that they are better than their competitors.

While companies usually make discreet references to rival brands in their advertisements, here are some examples of ads that took open jibes at their competitors, attracting lawsuits in the process.

It's the viewers, of course, who have the last laugh, especially when they're treated to commercials that parody rival brands wihtout naming them, thereby steering clear of trouble.
