Say what you want about Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, but you can't deny that the man has the capacity to say the most outrageous things.

The bare facts are these: League leaders Leicester City travelled to Manchester United on Sunday in search of the win that would give them the title. They did not get it – the match finished 1-1, but not without incident.

Replays showed Leicester's Robert Huth tugging at United's Marouane Fellaini during the game. Fellaini reacted with an elbow which sent Huth to the ground. The referee, however, did not notice it and both the players escaped without punishment.

But the manager had a different spin on the events. When asked about the incident during a post-match interaction by a Sky Sports reporter, van Gaal proceeded to grab the reporter's hair and say the following, which can be seen in full glory in the video above from the 0.55 mark onward.

Shall I grab you by your hair? What is your reaction when I grab your hair? Your hair is shorter than Fellaini but when I do that, what are you doing then? It’s a reaction. Every human being who is grabbed by the hair, only with sex masochism, then it is allowed, but not in other situations. They did it.

Not to diverge from his pet theme of "sex masochism", van Gaal had similar things to say in another interview to the BBC's Match of the Day. Thankfully, that reporter escaped without a physical demonstration.
