Modern-day football clubs are multi-billion dollar global corporations owned by billionaire owners. It is a far cry from the days when clubs represented the collective identity and aspirations of the places they belonged to.

But Leicester City's fairytale run in the current Premier League season has provided a throwback to older, gentler times. The Midlands club who staved off relegation last season are top of the table with three games to go and can win the title if they win on Sunday against Manchester United. It is football's greatest underdog story.

At the heart of this incredible story has been their Italian manager Claudio Ranieri. The Turkish television channel TRT World ran a heart-warming video of Ranieri watching as Leicester fans from all walks of life thanked him for what he had done and pleaded with him to stay at the club. It was an emotional Ranieri at the end who stated that all his sacrifices were for the fans.

Sometimes football can surprise you. Because, amidst the riches and the scandals, at heart it remains the Beautiful Game.
