The year 2016 marks the worst water crisis in India in a decade. Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh’s Bundelkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu are all reeling under a water scarcity.
In scenes from a post-apocalyptic world, the water crisis is bringing on some extreme measures. On Sunday ANI reported that in MP’s Dindori village, children are climbing down wells to scoop out what little water remains in them. They can be seen here scaling the walls, where one misstep could prove fatal.
Dindori residents say they face similar drought-like situations every year.
Meanwhile, a train is on its way carrying 50 tankers of water to Maharashtra’s Latur, where Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been imposed – prohibiting gatherings of more than five persons – as a precautionary measure to prevent water riots.

The train arrived in Miraj in Sangli district late Saturday night. On Sunday, water was being filled in the tankers for the onward journey to Latur, Indian Express reported.
