You don't have to go to a big-budget Computer Generate Imagery filled film to be wowed by things that don't quite look real. In fact, those artificially generated spectacles are as likely to be a let down as not. Artist Thomas Blanchard, however, would like to remind you to look a little closer at the world around you. Okay, a lot closer.

Blanchard took oil, milk, honey and coloured paint and mixed them together. Then he pulled out a macro lens and shot everything. The results, part of a series called the Color of Feelings, are beautiful and surreal (while also helping copy editors everywhere re-purpose "as boring as watching paint dry").

"The Colors of Feelings is an experimental dreamlike video rocking us smoothly through circular moves," Blanchard explains in the description to the first video. "It is also an analogy of feelings such as anger, love, sadness and joy; they mix and eventually ease."

The videos are almost like a window into another world, with brightly coloured orbs floating around swirling liquids. The second installment in the series brings in paint, oil, milk and soap liquid for some equally trippy visuals, this time entitled, Memories of Paintings.
