If conventional sports is not your thing, make sure you visit the Kila Raipur Sports Festival held in the districts of Ludhiana next year.

Famously known as India's "Rural Olympics", the Kila Raipur Sports Festival showcases a wide variety of unconventional sporting events, ranging from the amusing to the wildly bizarre. Take a look at the video above to see it for yourself.

The range of sporting events is mind-boggling. There are demonstrations of strength where participants pull a car with their moustache or balance ladders on their teeth. And displays of courage too – including standing on a speeding motor-bike or jumping through flaming hoops.

There are also demonstrations of unique martial arts which hardly few practice nowadays – this year saw the demonstration of a Sikh marital art called gatka.

It might not have the glamour of Rio de Janiero, but in its own way, India's Rural Olympics is also a wonderful celebration of the Olympics motto: Faster, Higher, Stronger. With one word added. Weirder.
