What do you do seconds after winning the world heavyweight boxing title? Sing, of course!

British professional boxer Tyson Fury punched his way to a sensational world heavyweight title in Dusseldorf on Saturday – and celebrated by serenading wife Paris Fury with Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing in front of a 50,000-strong crowd.

He certainly didn't miss a thing during the bout. Fury’s opponent, the 39-year old Wladimir Klitschko, had come into the fight with a formidable record. He had been unbeaten in 22 fights over 11 years, and was defending his title for the 19th consecutive time.

But Fury unleased his surname on Klitschko’s credentials, repeatedly taunting him with verbal volleys in the build-up to the much-anticipated fight.

When it did start, it was a messy and furious affair. Fury was aggressive in the first two rounds but the champion remained steely. However, Klitschko could never manage to get in his favoured right cross as Fury danced around him landing blows. Fury switched to a southpaw stance in the third round and finally found his chance, landing a crushing blow that left Klitschko bloodied with a cut on his right eye.

A dogged but weakened Klitschko staggered on. But the fleet-footed Fury threw in one lunge after another and shook off most of Klitschko’s despairing blows. The champion managed to land a few telling blows in the last round, but it was a bit too late. The judges awarded Fury the bout 115-112, 115-112, 116-111.

In a departure from the aggressive atmosphere before the match, both the fighters were much mellower afterwards. Fury lauded his opponent for being “a great champion” and thanked him “for having me”, while Klitschko thanked the crowd who warmly applauded him back.
